I might be tempted to go into the future but only if I could change it if it was not good for me. Always assuming we are in control of our own lives and its not pre-set.

Interesting that if you did go back you could change your future. I never would want to go back as the past is gone and I never keep regrets.

If we really looked back on our lives we could find so many regrets our heads would blow off. Ooh mayhem.. Wonder how the world would have been if we had the power to make sure Hiltler never came to power or the atomic bomb never got made ect.

lol. Its a shame we cant go right back to the very beginning and change the human brain so it does not have the self destructive, likes to fight element. Of course that would mean challenging God and telling him he got it wrong. For atheists...well.....

I would go back but not to look at my own past to look at history like what life was like in Henry VIII's time or something.

cheater. I hated shakespeare as well until we were taken to see Romeo and Juliet at the theatre.Even the boys cried. I quite like Much ado about Nothing but only because I saw the film.It had Keanu Reeves in it (only actor I can remember.lol).

If time travel into the future was possible Id travel to exactly one year from now just for half an hour or so. Id log onto the internet and download all the lottery numbers for the past 12 months, download all the horse racing results, football results, all the sports results. Id say the next 12 months would be quite profitable

Time travel is something that has always fascinated me; right from watching the very first episode of Dr Who on the small and black & white screen such travels have never left me. The possibilities are infinite. But if I could only pick oneway to go I’d go forward, as the past had already been conquered. We are the product of our past and changing it will not stop us in becoming what we have already become. The future is something new to be explored and examined. To learn and to enlighten ourselves.

Interesting viewpoint.
Could we not change the past for the better though.?

Interesting viewpoint. Could we not change the past for the better though.? Yes, but for who’s better? We all have our own ideas in what is best and what is right.... sadly they will conflict with everybody else views. Maybe that is the reason why we shouldn’t know too much about the future... gradualism maybe the only answer we have got to change things.

True.I suppose if I went back and changed my past it would impact on others and maybe not for their good.
We would have to apply the same to the future. If we went forward and saw something horrid we would want to change things now so it doesn't happen but again.it might not be good for all.

Maybe that is why time travel is out of our grasp.... our intentions might be honourable, but our actions might be devastating for mankind. But we have the facilities to dream... and it is those dreams that sometimes make our aspiration possible.

True..who is to say that if we went back in time and smothered hitler at birth that another dictator even worse would not have risen. We might think we woud be doing the world a favour but maybe not. Dreams are always a good thing to hold onto even if they never come true.

Some dreams do come true.
I look at things that happen as a learning process. People like Hitler and Stalin and other dictators serve a purpose; in the sense that we must take some good out of what has happened... try to learn from it for the future and benefit of mankind.
If we went back and stopped people like Hitler it would also change our mentality and there would always be the threat hanging over all of us that something we haven’t learnt from (because we went back and removed it) happening again. We can’t go back... but forward with the knowledge of what we’ve learnt from the past.

I dont think we have learned from the past though as we keep making the same mistakes over and over.
Well not us mere common folk but the governments.
I even feel that our government is a dictatorship. A veiled one but a dictatorship all the same.

We have learned from the past... but remember, in the history of time we are at a small moment of that time. Maybe the bigger picture will tell us more... then we will have a better understanding.
Lord Hailsham said we live in an elected dictatorship and I think he was right. We don’t have pure democracy but only an illusion of it.

We are still making mistakes... but in a different way. It is probably a gradual process to enlightenment. In a million years from now things will look different. When people look back from then they we see our society still in its infancy.

In theory is right. I want to travel back in time to yesterday afternoon so I can buy the winning lottery ticket. I only got two numbers last night.
