Police were yesterday investigating a fresh sighting of a big cat in Fife. The black puma-like creature was seen in north Glenrothes by a woman walking her dog. Mary Wallace, 53, told Fife Police that she saw the animal yesterday morning in Gilvenbank Park near Pitcoudie. She and her three-year-old Shetland sheep dog, Piper, came within 50 yards of the creature, which sat on its haunches watching her. She said: "At first it was walking away from me, then it turned round, sat down and stared at me. I was shocked. It had a big round face, too large to be a domestic cat or a dog. This was definitely a big cat." It is the second big cat sighting this month near Gilvenbank Park. Three weeks ago, a couple reported a similar creature tearing open rubbish bags. Last month, a puma-like cat was spotted in a secondary school playground in Cupar, Fife.
Alan Bank, a local newsagent, saw the animal prowling at Bell Baxter High School less than an hour before pupils were due to attend classes. The British Big Cat Society believes there could be up to 70 of the elusive creatures prowling the countryside.
Living near Dartmoor there are regular sightings similar to this one. I do believe there are cats living wild in the countryside due to the hundreds of individual accounts.
What do you think?

My husband and son swear they saw something the other week when fishing at a place called Coombe. My son spotted it first and showed his dad, they said it was walking through the field and looked like a huge black panther. I said that it was probably a feral cat but they both said it looked too big and the tail too long.
