I swear by Lavasoft Adaware, Spybot, AdwareSpy and Spywareblaster. The good thing is you can use them all without conflict and they pretty much cover everything. And they're free to download! Well, three of them are - the fourth one is only free if you know where to look. I'd definitely not stick to just one or two because they all work in different ways and pick up different malware. Feel free to pm me if you want to find out where to get the programmes from

Microsoft AntiSpyware is very good, if you do the settings right it is one off the best out there,,also make sure it updates itself..if your not sure just run an update yourself... Also to help with stuff do this.... go to Start/Control Panel/Internet Properties/Privacy. then move the settings slider to Medium High/ Also tick the box called ,,,, Block pop-ups.. that believe it or not helps loads..try it and see..

I have windows defender but also Norton. My subscription to Norton runs out soon and I have no idea what I should use instead. Not sure what to use for firewall either. Help!!! I am useless at this kind of thing, ps..has to be free.

Thank you DM..am saving up to get it.
I do like Norton as it seems to pick up and block a lot more spyware than any others I have had.
