Sounds to me like someone is trying to sell you some new antivirus stuff! Don't know what package you use hon but AVG are good and do a home user package absolutely free. You just download it straight to your machine and I've had no problems since I've had it. they do free ad-on spyware and popup stuff too. Though I do use other packages too, this certainly beats any of the ones I've paid for in the past.
Hope that's of some help

Thanks misty.
The link is one from my anti virus people that I went to so I could see the risk from the virus.
I will check out AVG sounds good.
mine is free but it runs out in 6 months.

Runs out in six months, you say ? Riiight. I had a lot of trouble with an extremely well known anti-virus software supplier, one that is recommended by most of the top pc shops. About six months before the end of the 'free' contract when I bought the pc, they sent me an alert telling me how much it would be to renew. It was crazy money for what they offered, so I told them to get lost and then began to get the odd fairly harmless virus through. They continued to bombard me with warnings about how my computer was at risk if I did not renew, but rather foolishly, I ignored them - after all the licence still had months to run. About 3 months before my cover ended I sent them a snot-o-gram saying that I thought their pricing was crazy, I wasn't going to renew and if they didn't stop bombarding me I would write to the ombudsman. Within a day I got hit by a worm that took out everything; outlook, isp the whole lot went down. I had to take the pc apart and rebuild it from scratch to get rid. Coincidence? i don't think so. And of course all the emails had gone too - so now I print everything! I've never had any hassle with AVG (just google them) and I've had no trouble since because they make their money from the companies who can afford to pay and test their software on the home users. Worth a try and sooner rather than later

Blimey!!! The worst of it is that there is no way you can prove that they sent the viruses. I have windows defender and have no trouble with that but it does not get rid of everything. I did take a look at avg but it says that for the first few months you get all that you would get with a paid one since it downloads with the free one but then after that we lose it all.

Cam, had a look. Try googling AVG free. That gives you the appropriate downloads. I think what you may be reading is about the support for the previous version, they brought out a new one earlier this year and they don't explain it very well. But the free support is there for the forseeable future. The virus database gets updated about once a week, takes a few seconds and as I say, I've had no problems. They are a huge business, it's to their advantage to have as big a test market as possible, then they can hit problems quickly.
Good luck

My virus checker would not allow it to download.

your virus checker should only run when you want to check stuff, do you mean your firewall stopped it, if so just let it through as its to work with IE 7..

I am using windows defender and it runs in the background but it was probably my firewall.
Can you post the link to the blocker in case I got the wrong thing please.

How did I get it and how do I get rid once and for all...help!!!!! www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/virus.aspx?ID=49819 I think you mean notification that the virus has been removed from an email. That is a lot different than saying notification about a virus.
All it means is that somebody sent you a virus which was removed. That is what Anti-Virus Software does.
